The high efficiency permanent magnetic iron filter (see figure) is an oblong cartridge structure with a permanent magnet outside, which can be easily moved in and out of the cartridge by a pneumatic mechanism. A number of filter elements composed of magnetic-friendly metal fibers are arranged in the magnetic field area inside the oblong cylinder. During operation, the magnet magnetizes the filter elements in the magnetic field area, so that the pro-magnetic particles in the liquid to be filtered are adsorbed on the surface or inside the filter elements. After the filter element captures a certain amount of pro-magnetic impurities, the filtering capacity decreases.

When the differential pressure between the inlet and outlet of the filter reaches the set value or the timer reaches the preset time, the backwashing mechanism is activated to clean the filter element, at which time the magnetic field is moved out of the cartridge and the pro-magnetic particles adsorbed on the filter element are flushed out by water and gas backwashing, and the filter is discharged through the drainage pipe, and the backwashing is finished and the filter is flushed back to the filtering (working) state.

 

When the magnetic filter is used for a period of time, the backwashing pump should be used to clean the magnetic filter to remove the iron powder and dirt inside the filter, so as to ensure the filtration effect. This kind of high-efficiency magnetic filter was mainly introduced from abroad as an important equipment of degreasing unit in the early days, but later it has been localized as the result of introduction and digestion, and is widely used in the circulation system of degreasing section of domestic low-speed hot galvanizing line and continuous annealing unit; the common flow specifications are about 200~800L/min.
